José Miguel López García
José Miguel López García, as co-director of the Equipo Madrid de Estudios Históricos, has been advisor for several PhD’s and research projects relating to the social and economic history of Madrid and its hinterland. Apart from multiple papers and articles contributed to conferences and specialized reviews, he has coordinated the collective book El impacto de la corte en Castilla. Madrid y su territorio en la época moderna (Eurocit/Siglo XXI, Madrid, 1998); and collaborated on Capitales y Corte en la historia de España (Instituto Universitario de Historia Simancas, Valladolid, 2003). He is the author of La transición del feudalismo al capitalismo en un señorío monástico castellano. El abadengo de la Santa Espina, 1147-1835 (Junta de Castilla-León, Valladolid, 1990); and El motín contra Esquilache. Crisis y protesta popular en el Madrid del siglo XVIII (Alianza ed., Madrid, 2006). He is currently undertaking research work on slavery in Madrid at the end of the Old Regime.
